Lyrics: Make me a ship upon the ocean Send me off on my maiden voyage Give me to the water and I’ll sail I’ll drift away to that blue horizon If it takes forever I’ll be there Or could I be the rain Fall all over the rivers and valleys Until nothing of me remained If I went sailing through the air I’d land my hardest on that concrete freeway Oh make me a cannon ball Make me a ship upon the ocean Send me off on my maiden voyage Give me to the water and I’ll sail I’ll drift away to that blue horizon If it takes forever I’ll be there I found the highest bridge Rested my elbows on the ledge Wanted to fade into that empty nowhere Lost in a dream when I sleep forever It could be like I was never there Make me a ship upon the ocean Send me off on my maiden voyage Give me to the water and I’ll sail I’ll drift away to that blue horizon If it takes forever I’ll be there I was coming down Cowboy Mountain Tripped and tumbled into the mouth of winter Head first in snow up to my belly And for a moment didn’t know if I would dig myself free Oh could I be the mountain Give me forever to the snow Oh could I be the mountain Give me forever to the snow Make me a ship upon the ocean Send me off on my maiden voyage Give me to the water and I’ll sail I’ll drift away to that blue horizon If it takes forever I’ll be there I’ll drift away to that blue horizon If it takes forever I’ll be there

Somewhere the night is waiting to fall Deep in the hollows of trees, and under the leaves Even in the heat of the day, the shadows are already at play Somewhere the night is waiting to fall It hides inside mouse ears listening to everything you say The night is surprisingly near, you’re already its prey Somewhere the night is waiting to fall Behind the big bright blanket of blue The night is waiting for you The night is waiting to boop your nose, Gobble up your toes, And give your wife a rose, Somewhere the night is waiting to fall

I stand between a river and a lake The river is so shallow I could roll it up and put it in my suitcase I could put you in a boat my darling With a spool of thread my dear How long will you wait for me Alone on the sea In the morning when you wake You’ll forget all your dreams How long will you wait for me Alone on the sea If we had a boat And hadn’t lost our paddle We could row through all the words left unspoken In the morning when you wake You’ll forget all your dreams How long will you wait for me Alone on the sea I could put you in a thimble my darling Tie a string around your ankle my dear How long will you wait for me Alone on the sea

I’ve never been to Paris in the spring Never flown to Montgomery on a golden eagle’s wings But his voice it takes me Everywhere I go in my dreams At the end of a winding alley, the bricks are green with moss A hundred years of whispers echo in my mind Early in the morning, my garden fills with birds My overgrown hydrangea is whistling to me I’m sitting in the bar room He’s singing to me I’ve never been to Paris in the spring Never flown to Montgomery on a golden eagle’s wings But his voice it takes me Everywhere I go in my dreams Deep in the forest, in a palace of golden leaves In an old forgotten church yard, that overlooks the sea Lounging by the fire, on a snowy afternoon I’m sitting in the bar room He’s singing to me I’ve never been to Paris in the spring Never flown to Montgomery on a golden eagle’s wings But his voice it takes me Everywhere I go in my dreams

I am the burden that you carry when your pack is empty I am the fire that set the sun aflame I am the lighting when it meets the sea Remember my name I am the waves that thunder against the cliffs I am the deepest canyons of the west I carved my name in to the earth And the river cut my veins in to my chest I left my fear deep in the snow Give me your eyes Pull out you terror and crush it beneath your toes I’ll show you that shadow mage of time My footsteps are the rain My eyes that turned the storm to stone I filled the ocean with solitude So that only calm remained I left my fear deep in the snow Give me your eyes Carve my name into your skin So even your blood knows you’re mine Carve my name into your skin So even your blood knows you’re mine

about

Owl Scarey’s debut release “Everywhere I Go in My Dreams” is the culmination of nearly twenty years of song writing. He began writing the first track titled “Could I Be The Mountain” while he was still in high school. “Every few years I dusted off this song and wrote a few more lines, or found a few more chords,” Owl says. “There were times when I wished I could yank the song out of me. But some projects happen in their own time.”
“The Night Is Waiting” is a silly song. Owl says, “it’s funny to think that that every dark place is night, and it’s waiting to pounce at any moment.”
“Alone on The Sea” is the second of the two polkas on the EP. Owl wrote it in an attempt to remember more of his dreams. He had the idea that if he wrote about things that could be dreams, it might help him recall his dreams, and indeed it worked.
Regarding the title track of the EP, “Everywhere I Go in My Dreams” Owl says, “it’s one of those songs that just came tumbling out of me. I had been watching some friends play a show at a bar. As soon as I left, lyrics started popping into my head. By the time I got home, I had written the whole song.”
“The Burden That You Carry” is a response to a question seldom asked. Owl says, “I thought what would happen if nothing started a cult? What if emptiness was a cult leader.”
